7 Questions with Twitch Streamer, @xbrndh
Q1: Tell me about yourself.
My name is Brendah, I use she/her pronouns and I am a Mexican-born immigrant living in the United States. I am a Twitch affiliate and member of the Twitch Latin Guild and I have been creating content since August 2023.
Q2: What got you into streaming?
I have always loved the sense of community and when I joined a Discord server called Gamer Guild, I got to meet lots of content creators but, one I have to thank in particular is @Catsareme, She is one of my closest friends now and one of my favorite streamers, the way she would interact with viewers and would literally all bring us together for one specific thing inspired me and gave me the hope that one day I could also do that with people. 1 year later here I am, having nearly 600 nubesitas (little clouds) and a community I love and am so thankful for.
Q3: Tell me about your Twitch community.
Something that I focus on a lot in my community is "be your most authentic self no matter what". I grew up hearing all the time that I was 'too loud', 'too much' too this too that and it created social anxiety in my day-to-day interactions. It wasn't until I discovered Twitch and met other creators who were so similar to me and made me feel comfortable with who I was able to be myself and be happy with who I am. So that is something that I hope people get from my community <3
Q4: Why is self-care so important to you personally?
I have ADHD (and I'm also a Virgo lol) I struggle a lot with being too hard on myself if I don't accomplish enough in a day, so it's important for me to take some time to reflect, meditate, and be gentle with myself.
Q5: What do you do during streams to take care of yourself?
Every hour I take a 5-minute break no matter where I am in a game. My community is also very good about redeeming Stretch and Hydrate channel point redeems, and I always encourage them to do the same. We take care of each other <3.
Q6: Do you do any community self-care?
I try to have regular movie nights and hangouts where we all just relax and enjoy each other's company. We recently had a watch party for Inside Out 2 and we were all crying and reflecting on that movie together <3
Q7: What advice would you like to give Twitch streamers experiencing digital burnout?
A L W A Y S listen to your body, though I believe consistency is key to growth, your body also needs rest. I cannot even tell you the number of times that I've canceled a stream because I am exhausted, or having a bad mental health day, or whatever the case may be. I find that even when I force myself to go live when I'm not feeling it, it's usually when my streams don't do as well as when I'm feeling good enough and energetic to stream. I am 100% a believer that viewers feel your energy, so do not be afraid to take a few days off! <3
